TOMORROW SAT OCT 7 @ 10 am RAIN or SHINE Columbus Circle
The current administration at City Hall is planning to remove the statue by noted Italian sculptor Lorenzo Baldi that has stood at Columbus Circle for 89 years.
The city wants to take our statue down, and they are taking steps to remove it soon. We must take collective action to stop them and block them.
We must all speak out against the proposed removal of this artwork and the city’s attempted erasure of an iconic part of our shared heritage that was created by the people of Syracuse. If we do not attend tomorrow’s rally and speak out, the statue could be taken down.
In order to halt the statue’s impending removal, speakers representing various nationalities and ethnic groups will be gathering at 10:00 am tomorrow morning to speak in favor of the statue’s retention and our desire to preserve an important part of Syracuse’s history and one of our finest examples of public Art. We ask that you join us to ensure that your voices will be heard.
